AFC is a newly-formed organization created by a group of parents, grandparents, and
family members who noticed a lack of programming designed specifically for
children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Connecticut. They decided to
form a non-profit organization dedicated to providing recreational, cultural,
and social activities for children with ASD who may not be able to participate
in activities designed for neurotypical children.
Approximately 1 in 99 eight-year-olds in Connecticut's public schools has Autism Spectrum Disorder.
More than 5,000 children in Connecticut between ages 3-22 are affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Yet, there are few programs designed specifically for these children.
Our Programming Goals Include:
Open Gym recreation
Swimming lessons
Basketball clinics
Music enrichment
Sensory-friendly movies and other family activities
